There are many ways of donating to the American Red Cross, but I must urge you to be careful of how, and to whom you dontate your money too.

When disaster strikes, so do the email/ phishing scams. Please make sure before you are dontating that you take a couple of quick steps of precaution:

1. Never click a link that was sent to you through email. To many phishing scams send you emails asking you to donate. Click on the link here and if you look carefully, most take you to a bogus website.
2. Make sure you double check the web site name to make sure it is what you want. It is too easy to make a website these days. So please make sure you are on the right web site before you think about donating.
3. Make sure the website is secure by checking for https, and the picture of the lock. Although this can be faked as well, too many scam websites don't take the time to make sure it is set.
4. Click on the picture of the lock (located in the toolbar) and it will tell you if it is secure.

Haiti Relief and Development

On January 12, a series of earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 6.5 to 7.3 devastated Haiti. The American Red Cross is working with its partners in the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network, including the Haitian Red Cross, and other partners to assist those affected by this disaster.

Your gift to the American Red Cross will support emergency relief and recovery efforts to help those people affected by the earthquake in Haiti. Assistance provided by the American Red Cross may include deploying personnel, sending relief supplies, and providing financial resources.
